Place: Krzyżowa, Poland

“Uprooted – (Hi)Stories of Stolen Children during World War II” is an international programme focusing on children who were abducted from German-occupied parts of countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic and Ukraine during the Second World War and taken back to Germany where they were subjected to forced “Aryanization”. To this day, their story is almost completely unknown, although they too count among the victims of National Socialist crimes.

By considering and showing the history of these forcibly abducted and uprooted children, we would like to encourage a confrontation with the racist and inhuman ideology of the National Socialists. Furthermore, we would like to advocate for raising awareness of the importance of children's rights and to address their violations in today's world.

All the participants will have the opportunity to join the pool of trainers working with youngsters in the "Uprooted" youth exchanges.

In the training course, you will:

  • get a better understanding of the topic of stolen children during World War II,
  • participate in lectures and training units facilitated by experienced "Uprooted" trainers as well as external experts,
  • learn educational resources to teach about this topic,
  • learn how to teach sensitive topics effectively,
  • get a chance to connect with like-minded educators, teachers, and facilitators, and to share best practices.
